I turned this plate from a piece of Ash, the tree once stood in National Trust's Ashridge Estate, Herts. 
The rim of the bowl is coloured by ebonizing the wood, a natural chemical reaction that dyes the wood when iron acetate is applied. 
 
This product comes with a handwritten card containing care instructions and explaining more about the wood and where it came from.
 
The plate measures approx 20mm high and 180mm wide
